Five adult actors are needed to play all the roles in this fast moving, funny, seasonal family play!

There are multiple roles to chose from – 3f, 2m or vice-versa.

You know the poem. “And all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.”
Well, one mouse is very much stirring, and that’s when the fun begins!

I’m sorry to have to report that, for several reasons, the committee have made the difficult decision to postpone our May 2026 production of ‘Deliver us from Evil’.  As I’m sure you can appreciate it’s never an easy decision to make but it does mean that we can clear the stage and concentrate on the November production.  We’re sorry for this and would apologise to those people who committed to the play and hope that they’ll be available for future productions with us.

We’re currently approaching several potential directors and asking them for play suggestions.  Once we have these, we’ll then be arranging play readings with a view to casting, which we’ll be advising you of, so please check on both our website and Facebook pages for further information and do give them your support.

Although we have almost a full cast for Cranford we’re still looking for two cast members to join what is already shaping up to be a warm, witty, and truly special production.

Directed by Robert Tremayne this charming adaptation of Cranford by Martyn Coleman is full of heart, humour, and classic storytelling.

It will also be the Players’ official entry to the BHAC Awards 2025 — so expect quality, camaraderie, and something to be proud of.

To complete the company we’re looking for actors for the following roles:

 MISS BARKER

• A retired milliner with social aspirations. Pompous, competitive (especially with Miss Pole), but not without charm.
• Stage Age: Flexible
• Accent: Well spoken
• Great comic instincts welcome.

 JEM HEARN

• A quiet, kind-hearted labourer from the working class. Deeply devoted to Martha, the housemaid. A man of few words but much warmth.
• Stage Age: 20s – 40s
• Accent: Northern (Lancashire/Yorkshire)
• Also supports scene changes in Act 1.
